Big Maslenitsa (Butter Week) in Peterhof
Peterhof park invites children and adults on a spectacular show Big Maslenitsa. There are folk songs, dances, traditional competitions in agility, strength and speed, tasty pancakes, pies and hot tea at the show. Also you can participate in workshops on crafts. The show closes with burning scarecrow of Maslenitsa.

The project “Jazz unites continents”
Russian-American trio and a legend of Russian jazz perform on the stage of Jazz Philharmonic Hall. John Davis, guest from overseas, bassist Gregory Zaitsev and drummer Igor Ignatov play jazz songs with multiinstrumentalist David Goloshchekin from St. Petersburg.

It’s a traditional concert in honor of the Defender of the Fatherland Day where famous patriots of Russia, music band Lube performs. The opera “Das Rheingold” at Mariinsky-II Theatre
The opera “Das Rheingold” is an exciting action, based on the Scandinavian myths. This work put on the map Richard Wagner name and he earned unprecedented popularity. It’s a story about ancient gods and Valhalla. This opera is a part of the tetralogy “Ring of the Nibelungs”. Love, war and adventures are in the opera. It lasts 2 hours 40 minutes and performed in German (accompanied by synchronized subtitles in Russian).

The performance “The Dawns Here Are Quiet” in the theater Masterskaya
“The Dawns Here Are Quiet” is a performance staged by Pauline Nevedomskaya and based on famous same name novel by Boris Vasilyev. It’s about the heroines of WWII, the war, cruelty and absurdity of the world in which we live. It is a drama in two acts about the life, death and love.

The performance “The Tempest” by Shakespeare at the Komissarzhevskaya Theatre
This performance is a version based on Shakespeare work and staged by the Bulgarian director Alexander Morfova. There is an excellent decorations and costumes, lighting effects, as well as the ballet choreography. The performance is very unusual and, one might say, magical. The actions take place on an island lost in the ocean. Heroes get there by accident and they aren’t welcomed.

The performance “Fathers and Sons” at the theatre Na Liteinom

The concert of Chamber Choir Utopia & Reality
Choir Utopia & Reality was founded in 2011 by two conductors, Urshey Lah from Slovenia and Ragnar Rasmussen from Norway. This is an international group of young singers, specializing in contemporary choral music. The concert will feature excerpts from cantatas “Innermost talk” by Nikolay Sidelnikov, compositions of the Slovenian composer Lojze Lebich, Suite on verses of Lorca by the Finnish composer Einojuhani Rautavaara, composition “Peace on earth” by Arnold Schoenberg, compositions of the choir conductor Ragnar Rasmussen are performed at the concert. It closes with Norwegian folk song “Wedding procession sørfold”.

Igor Baskin and D-sound project on an exposition “Ludwig’s museum in the Russian Museum”
Musical project “Ludwig’s museum in the Russian Museum” takes place in the Marble Palace: Jasper Jones’s picture “Shadow” (1959) from Ludwig’s Museum is played by the St. Petersburg D-sound project group in the Russian Museum. D-sound project is a composer and improvisational, sound-musical project of the artist Igor Baskin, on crossing of modern academic music, sound vanguard and conceptual art, a part of the St. Petersburg Transconceptualism direction. This is the third performance within the joint large-scale project with the Russian Museum on creation of “musical copies” of the known pictures from an exposition of the museum.

The exhibition “World of Russian nobility”
“World of Russian nobility” discovers the French art from the collections of the Yusupov family. Yusupov dynasty began to create a unique collection of paintings and sculptures from the end of the XVIII century. The exhibition includes 27 paintings of representatives of the “gallant century”. You can also see 8 miniature copies of ancient monuments in the Yusupov Palace.

The Exhibition New East Photo Prize 2016
New East Photo Prize is the first international prize for photographers from Russia, Eastern Europe, the Balkans, Central Asia. This exhibition includes the photos of the finalists New East Photo Prize 2016. Among them – Katrina Kepule from Latvia, Sasha Rudenskaya from Russia, Lana Stoichevich from Croatia, Vladimir Vasilev from Bulgaria, Syarek Michal from Poland and other authors. They think about national identity and the mechanisms of memory in their documentary and staged photographies.

The exhibition “Ivan Aivazovsky. To the 200th anniversary of the artist birth”
Russian Museum presents the exhibition dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the birth of one of the most famous Russian marine painters. It includes the paintings from the collections of Russian Museum, Central Naval Museum, “Peterhof” Museum, Sea Cadet Corps, and “Tsarskoye Selo” Museum. There are emblematic works of the painter, as well as less known works to the general public, documents, diplomas, letters, navigational instruments, models of ships, flags and much more.

The group exhibition “Fiction in life” in Erarta museum
The exhibition includes works in the genre of Surrealism and Fantastic Realism. The authors of paintings are artists who have been exhibited at the Museum of Contemporary Art earlier. The idea of the exhibition was born from observing the exhibiting process, when a real extravaganza happened: post apocalypse was near the lyrical works, city landscapes coexisted with oases of psychedelic dreams. One of the part of the exhibition is the sci-fi section.

The exhibition “Something like the truth” discovers surrealistic paintings of Edward Bubovich, which show living houses, animated machines, and winged towers. It’s a changed reality, the present time which is clothed in metaphor. Graphic worlds of Edward Bubovich impress by their independence: it seems everything’s possible in these worlds.

The Performance “Roadside Picnic” at Za Chernoi rechkoi theater
The performance is based on the novel of Strugatsky brothers. The director is Andrey Korionov. It’s about moral choice and responsibility. The performance tells about what to do with strange things which are left on the Earth by aliens. The performance lasts 2 hours 30 minutes with one intermission.

The performance “The Snow Queen” at the St. Petersburg Demmeni Marionette Theatre
“Snow Queen” at the St. Petersburg Demmeni Marionette Theatre is a deep and inspiring play based on the famous work of Hans Christian Andersen. It is an enchanting fairytale as well as serious and honest story about love and loyalty, self-sacrifice and courage. The authors show a fabulous story as an allegory to life in a modern society in which a person has to fight for the purity of his soul and resist countless temptations.

The Ice Ballet “Sleeping Beauty”
“Sleeping Beauty” is a show of music, ballet and ice-skating from the St. Petersburg Ice Ballet theater. Favorite fairytale is performed at the ice area under accompaniment of music by Tchaikovsky. All actors are professional skaters of the highest level. Costumes and stage decorations are colorful and expressive. The combination of elements of ballet and ice-skating, fire and flames, turns the show into a unique performance.

The performance “The Little Prince”
“The Little Prince” in a modern interpretation of the parable of Antoine de Saint-Exupery is a synthesis of puppet and drama theater and video projections. Puppet characters and the actors become equal participants in the action, and animation and visuals give the performance a contemporary sound. The main themes of the play are difficult search of yourself, ability to keep a promise, responsibility for words and deeds.
