Anniversary of the Dutch Institute, festival
The Dutch Institute celebrates the 20th anniversary in St. Petersburg. This organization unites the scientists of Russia and the Netherlands. You will go to interesting lectures on scientific cooperation between the two countries at this festival. Also you can visit a concert in the evening, where Schubert’s and Sisask’s compositions are performed by the Netherlands pianist duo named Grieg Pianoduo.

Symphony Hollywood concert
Northern Symphony collective under the direction of Fabio Mastrangelo perform in Music Hall theater. Musicians play well-known compositions from famous movies. You will listen to melodies from such films as Sounds of Music, Forrest Gump, Star Wars and Pirates of the Caribbean and much more. The compositions are played in the original version.

The Dawns Here Are Quiet, performance
The Dawns Here Are Quiet is a performance staged by Pauline Nevedomskaya and based on famous same name novel by Boris Vasilyev. It’s about the heroines of WWII, the war, cruelty and absurdity of the world in which we live. It is a drama in two acts about the life, death and love.

The Italian rock-n-roll diva Laura Pergolizzi, who is famous for her outrageous appearance performs in St. Petersburg. She creates music in between pop songs and the work of Bob Dylan, Patty Smith, and Janice Joplin. The musician sings songs from the usual repertoire, as well as new compositions.

Macbeth. Cinema, performance
It’s the first performance, staged by Yuri Butusov. The plot tells you about gloomy world of Macbeth and his wife, full of fears and suspiciousness. It includes the dance numbers. The director focuses on events, not on people’s feelings. A special feature of this performance is the almost complete lack of decorations and the use of only black, red and white colors. The stage lasts 5 hours.

The Demon of Onegin, musical performance
This musical performance is based on the same name novel of Pushkin. It’s not a quite original version. You will see old Onegin, suffering from missed opportunities and memory of the mistakes of the past. The performance shows the two sides of the character’s personality. This staging has a lot of music and uses the latest 3D technologies.

Imprinted Childhood, exhibition
Don’t miss a chance to visit a photo exhibition of Anna Azbel. You can see many children’s portraits there. Her works are characterized by strong emotionality and sincerity of feelings. She doesn’t do staged photos. Anna Azbel creates a unique children’s world, where everything is filled with tenderness, joy and love. The exhibition includes about 70 author’s photographs, made in different parts of the world.

The Voice of the Garbage Sea, exhibition
This exhibition discovers the fantasies that are born from the collision of world elements. It includes masks, assemblages, sculptures, installations, and video art created by Andrei Sikorsky. You will listen to the ethnotrans music of the music band Obertonnye Lydi (Obertone People) and see the performance of the choreographer and actress Daria Barabanova at the opening of the exhibition on May 25.

It’s the exhibition of Chema Madoz photographer from Madrid. He creates surrealistic and even slightly psychedelic photos of the surrounding world. The author shows a new meaning of the things using metaphors, references, irony and paradoxes. He captures an idea of the things, and not their appearance. The exhibition features 119 selected black and white photographs of Chema Madoz.

Music Salon and other paintings of Piero Pizzi Cannella, exhibition
This exhibition is dedicated to the art of Piero Pizzi Cannella. It includes 28 paintings written by the artist over the past ten years. The whole exposition is divided into thematic groups, connected with the peculiarities of perception of the world by the author. Cannella is looking for a new meaning in the usual things, giving them something fantastic and unreal. The artist doesn’t depict people, but paintings are related to human experience, memories, and dreams.

Reality and magic. Porcelain of Nelly Petrova, exhibition
This exhibition discovers the porcelain art. Nelly Petrova is the artist of the Imperial Porcelain Factory. She gets inspiration from Russian traditions, especially bright patterned costumes. The artist likes to depict landscapes on porcelain. A lot of her works are devoted to calming landscapes and flowers. Also you will be interested to look at the porcelain calendar made by Nelly Petrova.

Things to do with kids
It’s a children’s opera on the music of the Czech composer Hans Kras. The Children’s Choir of Television and Radio performs it in St. Petersburg. This musical is dedicated to children who died during the Second World War. Opera is considered as a symbol of resistance to fascism, the fight against the great evil. It’s written specifically for children’s performance and lasts only 30 minutes.

Captain Fracassus, musical performance
It’s a musical performance for young spectators, based on the historical-adventure novel of Theophilus Gautier. It tells you about buskers, who have many adventures, love stories and meet the knights. St. Petersburg composer Vladimir Baskin composed the music.

Molodylnye yabloki (Rejuvenating apples), performance
This performance is based on the same name play of Vladimir Ilyukhov. It unites different Russian folk tales, which tell you fanciful stories about characters and their adventures. Recognizable fairytale characters are harmoniously combined with a dynamic plot. The performance as well as the play is filled with kind humor and irony.

Town Musicians of Bremen, musical
This musical production has the best elements from the well-known Soviet cartoon about the adventures of homeless animal artists. Characters go around the world, sing, get into different situations and don’t lose the faith in the best. The plot is the same as the original work, written by the brothers Grimm, on which the cartoon was based. You will listen to many songs which are familiar and loved by Russian spectators.
