“Pastimes”, evening meeting with Chulpan Khamatova
Renowned Artist of Russia Chulpan Khamatova will share with the audience her literary tastes at this meeting. The actress devotes the event “Pastimes” to three of her favorite heroines, three great poetesses, whose wise woman’s mind and generous heart reflected the pain of the twentieth century. These are Anna Akhmatova, Marina Tsvetaeva, and Bella Ahmadulina.

Festival of contemporary and traditional art of the Caucasus “nARTi”
A unique urban project will be held in the creative cluster Artmuza. The main idea of this project is the acquainting people with contemporary and traditional art of the Caucasus. This festival brings different achievements of modern artists of decorative and applied art who are representatives of Caucasian culture. The Show “Lovely M” in the Leningrad Center
The Show “Lovely M” is a premiere of the Leningrad Center with participation of great Vera Arbuzova and famous Singaporean illusionist Shin Lim. This is a story about famous actress who looks back on her life, career and love. It’s one of the most stylish and ironic performances of this famous troupe. This show brings a lot of visual images using 3D effects: scale, movable decorations are hand-painted as it was in old circuses and theaters.

The ballet “Giselle” staged by Jacobson Ballet Theatre
“Giselle” is one of the most insightful and touching works of past centuries. Henri Saint-Georges, Théophile Gautier and Jean Coralli made the libretto, Jules Perrot made the choreography. This performance is staged by Jacobson Ballet Theatre in the choreographic version of Marius Petipa who was the first choreographer of the Mariinsky Theatre at the end of the XIX century. “Giselle” lasts 2 hours 10 minutes.

The Concert “Evening of love duets” in theater Music Hall
A conductor Fabio Mastrangelo, who has been leading the theater Music Hall since 2013, makes a new gift for the audience. Duets from popular operas are performed at this concert and tell classic love stories. The Concert “Neoclassical Piano on Valentine’s Day”

The performance “Evening of Love” at the Licedei Theatre
The artists of the theatre invite you to look at the celebration of the wedding from a new perspective – in the clown’s point of view. The program includes interactive performances: the audience with the actors will prepare for the celebration, dance, and taste wedding meal. Traditional thematic classical performances are shown too. After show you can participate in disco, make a photo with the famous clowns and get a lot of positive emotions.

The performance “The Hollywood diva” at the Theater of Musical Comedy
The Dutch director Cornelius Baltus and an international team of directors, which includes representatives from Germany, Great Britain, Switzerland, Hungary and the United States present incredible musical comedy on the stage of St. Petersburg Theater of Musical Comedy. It’s based on an unknown for Russian audience operetta “Axel at the gates of heaven” by Austrian composer Ralph Benatski. Cornelius Baltus adapted this operetta. The plot actions are in the Hollywood Hills and all happen in the beginning of the twentieth century. Performance The musical lasts 3:00.

The performance “We are all good people” in Lensovet theater
This performance directed by Yuri Butusov is based on Turgenev’s famous play “A Month in the Country”. Events of “We are all good people” take place in the early 40-ies of the last century in a country estate of a wealthy landowner Islaev. Performance staged by Yuri Butusov is a noisy, colorful action, a sort of collage of different fates and lives of main characters.

Exhibition highlights of the week
The exhibition “Mikhail Shemyakin. Artist and Theatre”
It’s a large exhibition dedicated to the works of Mikhail Shemyakin. The exhibition includes costumes, masks and decorations created by the artist for the Mariinsky Theatre and the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet in Sofia and Vilnius. You have the opportunity to know more about the process of designer work. Special attention is given to the ballet “The Nutcracker” which is the important project of Shemyakin.

The exhibition “Shadows of Jerusalem”
The exhibition “Shadows of Jerusalem” is dedicated to the holy city of three religions, mysterious Jerusalem. It is a kind of continuation of Dmitry Brickman project named “Jerusalem is not just a city”. This exhibition discovers the essence of living in the urban space and showcases photos and paintings which aren’t simple classical landscapes and genre sketches. Dmitry Brickman is the creator of “fotoperevod” method, which is based on the transfer of verbal meaning through photos.

The exhibition “Mariano Fortuny. The Wizard from Venice. Collector. Artist. Couturier”
Mariano Fortuny is a revolutionary in fashion design and interior decoration in the beginning of the XX century. This exhibition is a joint project of the Hermitage and several Venetian museums dedicated to this designer. It includes designer fabrics, dresses and works for the theater, as well as textiles, manufactured in the factory Fortuny in Venice, which still carefully uses the historical technique. Isadora Duncan, Natasha Rambova, Sarah Bernhardt, Lillian Gish wore his dresses.

The exhibition “Space philately”
2017 year is a special year for Russian cosmonautics. It’s the 110th anniversary of the birth of Sergei Korolev who is a founder of practical cosmonautics. The museum of cosmonautics and rocketry of V.P. Glushko organizes the exhibition dedicated to this great date. It explores the thematic post marks illustrating history of space exploration by human. The exhibition consists of Soviet, Cuban, Bulgarian, Polish, Mongolian, Vietnamese, and other post marks.

The exhibition “City of childhood”
“City of Childhood” is the exhibition of Vadim Leukhin and includes his paintings. The author looks for bright fragments of the past and collects them into multi-level composition, which presents a kind of myth of childhood. His works aren’t just nostalgia for a bygone time, but it’s also a study of the social changes that have occurred in the country in recent years.

The exhibition “Georg Christoph Groot and the time of Elizabeth”
This exhibition includes 150 paintings of artists who worked during this specified period of time. Its basis is paintings of George Groot. He is a representative of “Rossica” and a founder of Russian portrait school. There are also graphic works and objects of decorative and applied arts of Russian and foreign artists in Mikhailovsky Castle.

The exhibition “Best of West”
The exhibition “Best of West” is a photo exhibition of Dean West. The project includes photographs from the author’s series “In detail”, “Olympia”, “Church” and “Fabrications”, as well as several advertising projects. The universe of Dean West is a fantasy world that exists under the rules of the photographer. He makes his own mythology, balancing between the real and the imaginary. The photographer collaborated with Disney, MTV, Fox Sports, SONY, and other large companies. His works are included in the prestigious collections of contemporary art and the personal collection of Elton John.

Events in Children’s Bureau “Cultural Cat”
The children’s bureau “Cultural Cat” organizes interesting events for children and their parents on 18th of February: workshops “Venetian comedy of masks” and “Venetian carnival masks”. All events are dedicated to the Venetian Carnival. The Children’s Bureau “Cultural Cat” is a cultural and educational project for children from 5 to 14 years and their parents where children learn more about art, music, theater and other art forms.

The performance “All mice love cheese” at Bryantsev Youth Theatre
It’s a performance staged by director Valeriy Dyachenko. This show makes young viewers think about how important to be faithful in love and friendship and what does it mean to be yourself. This performance is based on the fairytale of Hungarian writer Gyula Urban and it’s a kind of Romeo and Juliet story in mouse world where Montague – gray mice and Capulets – white mice. It lasts 1 hour 45 minutes with one intermission.

The performance “Cinderella” in the Children’s Drama Theatre Na Neve
This is a musical performance based on the same name Soviet film. The director of theater Tatiana Savenkova is a creator of this performance. The director uses the same text of Schwartz fairytale and same music of Antonio Spadavekkia as well as similar beautiful dresses and costumes like in the film. “Cinderella” lasts 1 hour 50 minutes.

The Puppet show “The Love for Three Oranges” at the St. Petersburg Demmeni Marionette Theatre
This puppet show is based on the famous fairytale play by Carlo Gozzi, adapted for children. It’s directed by Dmitry Lohov. It’s a love story told by actors and puppets. “The Love for Three Oranges” is a short, beautiful and dynamic performance under accompaniment of musical compositions by Tatiana Aleshina. It lasts 50 minutes.

The Performance “12 months, or Travel on a circle” at the Bolshoi Puppet Theater
This performance directed by Ruslan Kudashov is a remake of the famous fairytale, which is composed by the director. There is no pass-through drama, but all actions are united by common theme. There are a lot of circus acts. Gymnast, acrobat, trained animals, including fish, fakir, magician, and juggler participate in this performance. This puppet show is intended for an audience 6–10 years.
