Loft Project “Etagi” (“Floors”)
Cultural сentre Loft project “Etagi” came into sight only 6 years ago, becoming one of St. Petersburg’s most popular exhibition spaces. It was created in a 3000 m² building in the heart of the city. This building has its own history: in the past, a bakery plant was located there. Now, “Etagi” occupies the place with a 5-storied modern art space.
Project owners, brothers Egor and Saveliy Arkhipenko, decided to combine the building’s industrial interior with contemporary design: concrete columns, bread-making facilities, boiler tubes an iron floor with new and antique furniture. This mixture resembles typical loft architecture buildings of New York, Berlin and Amsterdam. That is why it’s called “loft” project – its architecture has been saved, but the building’s assignment has changed.
Loft project “Etagi” is made up of two galleries of modern art, four showrooms, a hostel, a library, a café and a shop, which sells books about design and architecture. Here, you can attend an exhibition or presentation, including international ones, listen to lectures on art and go to a film show or master class.
From the roof of the “Etagi” you can take a panoramic photo of the historical part of St Petersburg.
Art space loft project “Etagi” is open daily from 10:00 to 22:00.
