Concert dedicated to the 100th Anniversary of the First Lady of Jazz, Ella Fitzgerald
The concert dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the great jazz singer from the United States, Ella Fitzgerald, will be in Music Hall theater on the 31st of March!
Ella Fitzgerald is one of the greatest vocalists in the history of jazz music, a voice in the three octave range, a master of scat and voice improvisation, a 13-time winner of the “Grammy”; Winner of the National Medal of Arts (USA, 1987), Presidential Medal of Freedom (USA, 1992), Chevalier of the Order of Arts and Literature (France, 1990) and many other honorary awards. During her 50 years of work the first lady of jazz produced nearly 90 albums and compilations. During the life of the singer over 40 million of her records were sold.
The songs from the repertoire of the great Ella Fitzgerald will be performed by three American singers: Chareni Wade, Capatia Jenkins and Lakisha Ann Jones, under accompaniment of St. Petersburg Jazz Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Kirill Bubyakin. American singers are nominees and winners of many international vocal competitions, perform at prestigious venues in the USA and abroad, and participate in musicals on Broadway. Jazz Philharmonic Orchestra is a professional big band, founded in 2009. Its members are the best young jazz musicians of St. Petersburg.
