where to park in St.Petersburg

Parking lots in St. Petersburg are as much of a problem as in any city overloaded with traffic. It’s simple – there are too few of them for a 5-million person city.

Due to the present tough situation, City government passed a new law about paid parking in the city center.

Beware of leaving your car under a sign marked “No Parking,” even if there are other cars parked. Your car may be towed away to the car pound.

If you can’t find you car where you parked it

– Try to find out your car’s location by phoning +7812 680-33-33 or 004. You will be provided with the address and phone number of the traffic police (GIBDD) where you can get a written permit to pick up your car.

– Ask by phone where and when you will be able to get this permit. The permit will be issued to you after payment of the fine for the improper parking.

– Once you’ve received the written permit, go to the car pound. Don’t forget your ID and the document that confirms your ownership of or right to use the car.

Having your car towed is at your own expense and it costs around 3000 RUR (€ 70).

Be careful: a lot of parking lots are accessible only on even or odd days of week. Violation of these rules will suffer the same fees as for the improper parking.
