The festival of author’s animation starts in Lermontov Central Library. The program of the festival includes Soviet and modern cartoons. Also you will see parodies of gangster films, ironic detectives and the best foreign cartoons. There is a block dedicated to works of famous animator Harry Bardeen.

Jam session of the jazz club Kvadrat

Francophonie Festival is traditionally held in St. Petersburg at the end of March. This festival is dedicated to the culture of the French-speaking countries of the world. Birth of a Star Show of Olympic champions
The soul of the show is the artistic gymnast and Olympic medalist Julia Barsukova. In cooperation with the production company Olympico she brings together titled and young athletes, as well as circus performers to create an unusual show. This show consists of jumps on the trampoline, performances by aerialists, sports acrobats and artistic gymnasts. The main character of this show is a little girl dreaming about the career of a famous sportsman.

The performance “Polverone” (Solar dust) at the Bolshoi Puppet Theater
“Polverone” is a sensual and exciting performance staged by Yana Tumina and based on the texts of the genius Tonino Guerra. This play is a collage of 16 stories, at first glance, not related to each other. But they are united into a whole story about the beautiful obsession that allows a person to escape beyond the everyday commonness. It’s an experiment, in which expressive methods, symbolic language of theater, cinema and literature features are used and mixed.

StandUp Petersburg Concert
This concert is a big spring event where the best young humorists of St. Petersburg perform. Vlados, Alexey Shamutilo, Ilya Kuruch, Ivan Polovinkin and other residents of StandUp Petersburg will play different roles and show new jokes and monologues for the day’s rage. According to a new pleasant tradition, Pavel Dedischev, participant of the Comedy Battle on TNT, and Evgeny Chebatkov, participant of the StandUp show, will be special guests of this concert.

The performance “Masquerade. Memories of the Future” at the Alexandrinsky Theater
It’s a grandiose performance of Valery Fokin, art director of Alexandrinsky Theater, which is devoted to celebration of the 200th Anniversary of Lermontov. This performance is staged on the drama of Lermontov “Masquerade” and based on the performance of Meyerhold dated in 1917. Meyerhold documented visual techniques and mise-en-scenes which were used in his performance. So it makes possible to recreate the scenography, music, stage costumes and many other stage things in a new version of “Masquerade. Memories of the Future”. The performance lasts 2 hours with one intermission.

The opera “Werther” at the Concert Hall of the Mariinsky Theater
It’s a concert performance of Jules Massenet’s opera based on Goethe’s novel “The Suffering of a Young Werther”. The opera is written as duet of the main characters – Werther and Charlotte, divided into duets and arias, and all the other characters are just “shadows”. There is also no choir in the opera, which would fulfill the role of a certain collective principle. One of the most poignant scenes of the opera is Werther’s prayer, in which he calls the God with a request to take him to Heaven and free him from life’s suffering.

The performance “Jekyll & Hyde” at the Musical Comedy Theater
It’s a Broadway musical, created by the American composer Frank Wildhorn on the novel “The Strange History of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde” of Stevenson. It appears in the Russian version on the stage of the Musical Comedy Theater. The theme of human duality, the struggle of the dark and bright sides of the human personality is in the center of the story of Stevenson and the musical of Wildhairn. Ivan Ozhogin, Ivan Korytov and Manana Gogitidze, as well as other artists of famous Russian musicals participate in this performance. It lasts 3 hours.

The concert dedicated to the 100th Anniversary of Ella Fitzgerald
Ella Fitzgerald is one of the greatest vocalists in the history of jazz music, a voice in the three octave range, a master of scat and voice improvisation, a 13-time winner of the “Grammy” and many other honorary awards. During her 50 years of work the first lady of jazz produced nearly 90 albums and compilations. The songs from the repertoire of the great Ella Fitzgerald will be performed by three American singers: Chareni Wade, Capatia Jenkins and Lakisha Ann Jones, under accompaniment of St. Petersburg Jazz Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Kirill Bubyakin.

The performance “Roman Comedy” staged by the Mossovet Theater (Moscow)
“Roman Comedy” is a play staged by Pavel Chomsky and based on Leonid Zorin’s play. This performance is a part of the Moscow theater tour on the stage of the Tovstonogov Bolshoi Drama Theater. This play tells you an ancient story, describing the conflict of the poet-freethinker Dion and the cunning, prudent Emperor Domitian. The director figuratively and ironically describes a high society, the characters of this society are typical, but also have individual features.

The exhibition of Marcello Lo Giudice in Marble Palace
Lo Giudice works with the abstract line and uses special figurative means to represent the geographical forms and processes. Man-made and procedural factors are the core aspects of his art. He manually creates a texture surface, where the form materializes in color and the texture irregularities cast relief and shadows. His abstract works are metaphoric and become a symbolic analog of the Creation. There are no landscape features in his works and the images rather have a geological and demiurgic sense.

The exhibition Sine Cera
This exhibition discovers the works of three artists and one sculptor. Openness and sincerity are the main features in their works. Early Renaissance and pop art, ancient traditions and surrealism are united and mixed in Dmitry Dergunov’s paintings. Daria Kollegova likes to make experiments and seek new methods of expressiveness. Elena Bazanova is engaged in book graphics and creates fragile paintings on an animalistic theme. Yevgeny Burkov is the author of several monumental sculptures in Russia and Estonia, as well as works of small plastics. He often refers to ancient Russian history and folklore for inspiration.

The exhibition “R-point” of the artist Grace Darko
The exhibition explores all types of the artist’s work: graphics, sculpture, painting and digital art. It’s divided into parts, each of which is both part of the exposition and a separate whole one. Things to do with kids
The performance “Peter Pan, or the second turn to the right, and then straight until the morning”
This performance is a good play for children and their parents about a magical boy who doesn’t want to grow up. It’s based on the books of James Barry about Peter Pan. The action of this performance takes place on the magical island Netinebudet, where the main characters, led by the never growing up Peter Pan, fall into different adventures. The director of this stage is Svetlana Ozerovskaya who has already staged various performances for children, among them “Thumbelina” and “Instructive stories about magical transformations”.

The performance “Children’s pokatushka” at the theater Licedei
“Children’s pokatushka” (pokatushka is skating or rolling on something) is an incredibly funny and kind performance for visitors of all ages. It includes numbers that children understand and at the same time adults laugh at them. Such clowning masters as Leonid Leikin, Anvar Libabov, Victor Solovyov and other celebrities will perform on the stage. The program goes without intermission.

“Music and Fairytale” children’s program
“Season ticket No. 2. Music and Fairytale” is an amazing project of the Music-Hall Theater. It unites classical music, children’s literature and art of sand animation. Famous literary tales, read by popular Russian artists, are in the center of each of the programs of “Season ticket”. The performance is under accompaniment of the symphony orchestra and expressive video series illustrating the plot. Pushkin fairytales are performed in the framework of this “Season ticket. Music and Fairytale”.

The performance “Koshkin dom” at the Malyshchitsky Chamber Theater
“Koshkin dom” (Cat’s house) is a puppet show for young visitors based on the famous fairytale of Marshak. This performance says about friendship and mutual assistance. The action of the play takes place in the living room, decorated in the spirit of the 1920s. The costumes of a cat, dressed in a silk dress with feathers and a sweet hat, as well as music of Charlie Chaplin remind the style of “modern” period of time. It lasts 50 minutes without intermission.
