Poetic Thursday “Artist and Poet” at Artmuza

Each month Artmuza art space arranges poetry readings on a certain theme. Everyone can participate. The theme of this poetic Thursday is artist and poet. It means that you can talk about art, inspiration and love. Evening meeting of Kristina Kuzmina

It’s a musical and poetry performance, where actress Khristina Kuzmina presents her collection of poems named “Tomorrow for 2 people”. Her poems about fears and hopes, betrayal and love, the way to find yourself, nights of waiting for dawns and blinding light of illusions. This is the first show that is a creative experiment of actress. Artists, musicians and digital-specialists will help to present the collection “Tomorrow for 2 people”. Friends and colleagues of the actress participate in presentation too. Also you can buy a collection of poems there.

Evening film screening at Artmuza

Creative Cluster Artmuza invites you to visit the evening film screening devoted to the legendary comedies of the XX century. Film screening is on Saturday evening at 18:30. One ticket costs 100 rubles. A film “Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb” by Stanley Kubrick is shown on 4th of March.

The Party Pirate Station XV

The first Pirate station took place in St. Petersburg in 2003, gathered thousands of fans of broken rhythms and bass loops in the arena of sport complex Jubileinyi. The Concert of Intuitive Project

The Intuitive Project is a joint project of vocalist Julia Vardi and pianist Jaroslav Obraztsov. Julia Vardi is responsible for the music and lyrics, and Jaroslav Obraztsov – for the music arrangements. St. Petersburg jazz bands help the duet to play their songs. Julia Vardi and Jaroslav Obraztsov perform the compositions from new album Northern Jazz at the concert. You will enjoy an amazing cocktail of jazz-funk music.

The Performance “Idiot” at the Theatre on Vasilevsky

This performance directed by Vladimir Tumanov is a new stage interpretation of the history of Prince Myshkin. It’s a modern legend, full of unexpected details, vivid images, complex human relationships and tempestuous emotions. All actors were carefully selected for roles of major and minor characters. This performance lasts more than three hours with one intermission.

The Ballet “Legend of Love” at the Mariinsky Theatre

This ballet is a splendid work directed by Yuri Grigorovich. Turkish poet Nazim Hikmet created the libretto of the ballet, and Azerbaijani composer Arif Melikov made music. Vivid and dramatic fairytale in the eastern motifs is performed at the stage of the theater. Thanks to beautiful costumes, amazing choreography and acting work got this ballet on a par with the best ballets of the Mariinsky Theatre.

The Performance “Who suffered until the end”

This performance directed by Olga Malikova tells the story of the royal family with modern language. The purpose of this staged setting is recalling the terrible pages of 1917, reconsidering the destructive nature of wars and revolutions, and recognizing the necessity of peace and humanity. This musical drama is the author’s project of Olga Malikova and includes 17 dramatic episodes united by 17 musical numbers. The show is accompanied by archival video footage. Roles are played by vocalists of St. Petersburg theaters, film and television actors, participants of prestigious competitions and festivals. The director Olga Malikova plays a dramatic role too.

The Concert of Sophie Ellis-Bextor

The concert of the British dance-pop diva is dedicated to her sixth album. The first single from the album «Come With Us» became one of the hits of last summer. She sings in dance pop style but often the singer experiments and you can listen to synth-pop, new disco, and even alternative rock motifs. There are some folk elements in her latest album Familia. She performs her sixth album Familia at the upcoming concert in Aurora Concert Hall.

The Ballet “The Bronze Horseman” at the Mariinsky-II

This ballet was created by Soviet composer Reinhold Glier. Now it’s directed by Yuri Smekalov. Reingold Glier completed the ballet based on the works of Pushkin in 1948. Peter Abolimov is a author of the libretto and he used not only the same name poem, but also included in the story characters and events from other works of Pushkin. The scene called “Hymn to the Great City” is a musical symbol of Leningrad-Petersburg, and since 2003 – it’s an official anthem of St. Petersburg.

The era when the orchestral swing was the most scandalous and fashion music in the world, has left a legacy of dozens of amazing melodies that are in the fashion until now. The Exhibition “Victor Borisov-Musatov and masters of Blue Rose society”

The exhibition showcases the works of symbolist artist Viktor Borisov-Musatov, who explores the noble estates and their inhabitants. Also paintings of Pavel Kuznetsov, Sergei Sudeikin, Peter Utkin, Nikolai Krymov, Peter Bromirskyi and other artists who were members of Blue Rose society are featured in Mikhailovsky Castle.

The Multimedia exhibition “Aivazovsky – Alive canvases”

Creative space Lumiere Hall shows a new multimedia project dedicated to the picturesque heritage of Ivan Aivazovsky. This exhibition discovers more than 200 paintings by Aivazovsky in honor of the 200th anniversary of the birth of one of the most famous Russian marine painters. The paintings come to life thanks to modern technologies. The originals are kept in museums of Russia and Armenia. Volume sound, dynamic visual series and high-resolution projectors allow to immerse deeper into the Aivazovsky art.

The Exhibition “A penny saved is a penny gained”

This exhibition includes coins, paper money and securities that have been in vogue from the era of Peter The Great to 1915. The Performance “Alice. Quest” at the theater Zazerkalje

The artistic director of the theater Renowned Artist of Russia Alexander Petrov makes the old fairytale in a new way. Alice and Humpty Dumpty get into new adventures. Alice gets a message with the news that she should become a Queen of another world, and she has to defeat the Red Queen. Characters from other well-known fairytales help her. They are Neznaika, Wolf, Spider-Man, The Cat Who Walked by Herself, donkey Ia-Ia, and, of course, the young audience. You will see a lot of interesting games, puzzles and much more.

The Performance “Little Raccoon” at the St. Petersburg Demmeni Marionette Theatre

This performance is based on a wonderful fairytale of Lilian Muur. We can remember it from the Soviet cartoon with music by Vladimir Shainsky (Share your smile and it comes back to you again and again – lyrics of song). The chief director of the Demmeni Marionette Theatre Eduard Gaidai shows his own version of the story. All the characters are colorful puppets created by the artist Tatiana Melnikova. The play tells about the adventures of a little raccoon in the fairy forest in which the character learns that if you treat others with kindness and sympathy, they will likely respond in kind. The performance is intended for an audience from 4 to 10 years.

The Performance “Barmaley” at the Bolshoi Puppet Theater

This performance is based on the legendary fairytale of Korney Chukovsky. It’s about adventurous journey into a mysterious Africa which Tanya and Vanya make. They meet the horrible and dangerous Barmaley there. The interpretation of the image of the central character is changed compared to traditional. One of the most important features of children’s performances of the Bolshoi Puppet Theater – talking to young spectators in an adult way. Performance-fairytale is intended for an audience from 4 years. It lasts 35 minutes.
