Icebreakers Festival 2017

Movie Day by Potential movie platform

A Movie Dai is an event dedicated to filmmaking which takes place in Ohta Lab art space. Meetings with Nelson Ramirez de Arellano Conde

Russian Hamlet, performance

This ballet is staged by the famous Ballet Theater of Boris Eifman. It tells about the difficult fate of Paul I, a son of Catherine II. Dancers show a story of his life filled with hallucinations and fears, problems in the relationship with mother, his desire for power and inglorious end on the stage of the theater.

Concert of musician Alex Clare

British singer Alex Clare arrives in St. Petersburg to present his new third album. His music is a very melodic and emotional. It’s a mix of jazz, soul and new musical influences of electronic music.

The Magic Flute, opera

It’s a fabulous opera staged by the Mikhailovsky Theater cooperated with the Lausanne Theater. The plot tells about the adventures of the prince, who goes to save the kidnapped daughter of the Queen of the Night. The action of the opera takes place in the library of the Duchess Anna Amalia in the German city of Weimar. Music is written by Mozart and choreography is staged by the famous German Pet Hamman.

In winter, when I grew up, performance

It’s a performance based on the story of the Dutch writer Peter van Gestel. The plot tells you the story of the growing up of a boy, who suffered from many misfortunes. You will see the life’s tragedies, military drama and consequences of a war. The main topic of this performance is how to accept the volatility of the world. A director is Artem Ustinov.

Concert of Zimanavsegda (Winter is forever) band

Zimanavsegda band performs on the stage Erarta museum. This music band conquered the audience with its incompatible romantic compositions. The musicians compose beautiful poetic songs that sound great in the acoustic version and in rock performing. The concert is timed to the release of the band’s new album. Also you can listen to Dunaevsky Orchestra and Pravda bands as the participants of this concert.

Exhibition highlights of the week

On the way to Arcadia, exhibition of paintings by Konstantin Kansky

This exhibition includes the paintings of the Krasnodar artist Konstantin Kansky. He depicts fairytale worlds existing in parallel reality and we can only see them dreaming. The artist deliberately uses such methods as hyperbole and exaggeration. But when he depicts terrestrial images, there is nothing magical in them. They look chaste and poetic.

Konstantin Somov. Painting and Graphics, exhibition

This exhibition explores the works of the Russian artist Konstantin Somov, who emigrated from Russia in the 1920s. The artist and graphic preferred painting portraits and beautiful landscapes. He also managed to work with porcelain, creating interesting porcelain compositions. The exhibition includes his paintings, which were not exhibited in Russia long time.

Manolo Blanik. Shoes as art, exhibition

The exhibition includes about 30 drawings and 200 pairs of different shoes from the personal archive of Spanish designer Manolo Blanik. His works are elegance, splendid and have their own unchanging style. This exhibition explores the different directions of the designer’s work and it’s divided into six unofficial blocks, reflecting it.

The exhibition of Georgy Vereisky

The exhibition discovers the legacy of Georgy Vereisky. He is one of the classics of the Soviet graphic school, which continued the traditions of World of art (Mir iskusstva) society, and author of the remarkable portraits of the Russian artists. Vereisky created portraits, landscapes and genre compositions, using the techniques of lithography, etching, and pencil drawing. The exhibition includes landscape works that are little known to the wide spectator – images of Leningrad and Moscow, and its’ suburbs – and acquaints the public with the special features of the artist’s talent. It showcases about 150 graphic works – drawings, etchings and lithographs from the collection of the Russian Museum and State Tretyakov Gallery.

Dying, Stars Are Born, exhibition of Anatoly Izoitko

This exhibition includes the works of the Belarusian artist Anatoly Izoitko, a bright, talented representative of the Vitebsk Art School. The artist passed away in 2014 and all his works passed to his sister Elena Kovaleva in Russia. His art is a reinterpreted depiction of ancient Slavic legends and folk festivals, filled with a new life in the intertwining of fairytale and imaginary images. The ancient teachings, philosophy and Greek mythology are united in his paintings. His works are characterized by complex compositional constructions, color and tone contrasts, and extraordinary storylines.

It’s a charity festival, where the participants are children with disabilities.The festival has acquired the status of All-Russian festival since this year. Children, stars of Minute of Glory, Blue Bird and other TV shows, perform on the stage with Russian popular singers as Stas Pieha, Valeria who come to support them.

Autobots in search of Energon, show

It’s an interactive performance for young spectators. It tells about the adventures of Autobot transformers who want to save the Earth from an evil professor. The participants of this performance are real versions of robots from the famous American film. The show’s divided into 5 parts: smoke show, neon show, nitrogen show, tesla show and show of transformers.

Bioexperimentanium exhibition

Bioexperimentanium is an interactive exhibition where children learn more about different biological processes and phenomena. They can touch, run, and try everything. This exhibition includes 60 training installations. Also group and individual excursions are held and young visitors can become real experimental scientists during them.

Escape from the Magic Box, performance

It’s children’s performance where the main characters are things and objects that everyone has at home. Needle, zipper, scissors, button and thimble acquire their own characters and prove that inanimate objects have a soul. It’s an interactive performance where young spectators can take an active part.
