The Festival of contemporary and traditional art of the Caucasus “nARTi”

A unique urban project will be held in the creative cluster “Artmuza”. The main idea of this project is the acquainting people with contemporary and traditional art of the Caucasus. This festival brings different achievements of modern artists of decorative and applied art who are representatives of Caucasian culture. There are works of professional artists, art associations and galleries as well as talented amateurs at the festival. Entrance is free.

Classical music concert “Vivaldi vs. Piazzolla. 8 Seasons” in Planetarium

The group of musicians “Virtuosi of Petersburg” plays the works of two outstanding composers with help of high-tech visual effects. An idea to unite and combine the music of monk Antonio Vivaldi and the rebel Astor Piazzolla is a very exciting experiment. The Performance “Swan Lake” staged by the St. Petersburg State Academic Leonid Yacobson Ballet Theatre

This performance is staged according to the updated version of the ballet by Tchaikovsky with the classical choreography by Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov. The choreography of this ballet is recognized as one of the best works of the Russian national culture, and characters and the plot contain so many meanings that they have never become outdated. A wonderful designer Vyacheslav Okunev creates new decorations for this performance.

The performance “Shakespeare’s Room” at the Lensoviet Theater

The Ballet “Romeo and Juliet” in the Mikhailovsky Theater

It’s staged by Nacho Duato. Sergei Prokofiev created the music for it. This ballet is characterized by rapidity, Italian sensuality and emotionality. The choreographer considers Prokofiev’s music to be the most impressive sheet music in the history of the ballet. Nacho Duato shows a personal version of the “Dance of the Knights”, differing in individual understanding of the bloody feud of Montague and Capulets. Every musical sound is filled with dance. The performance lasts 2 hours 10 minutes with one intermission.

The Concert of Pizza music band

Some people joke that the work of this band is like the same pizza made up of many ingredients. The musicians perform pop with soul, reggae with funk, and even hip-hop music. The third album of Pizza named “Zavtra” has already been presented in Moscow and more than 2000 people visited that show. Now Pizza music band performs its new songs in St. Petersburg.

The Performance “Skylark. Jeanne d’Arc” staged by the Theater “So-Tvorenie”

This performance is a confession based on the play of Jean Anouil, where the main role is performed by actress Olga Kalinina. The monoplay tells about the last days of Jeanne d’Arc, which she spent in confinement. A warrior girl who freed Orleans in 9 days experiences a different feelings and torments in a tiny cold prison. The director and designer Polina Kosova has an extraordinary approach to the play production. The ascetic scenic decorations convey the atmosphere of the dungeon, and the battle of Orleans is shown with the help of dolls, special light, choreography and unusual plastic dances, and it looks like a slow motion picture.

The Performance “Governor” in Tovstonogov Great Drama Theater

It’s a new work of Andrei Moguchy. The basis of this performance is the narrative work of Leonid Andreev. This is the first first premiere of 2017, marked by a very controversial jubilee, the 100th anniversary of the October Revolution. Andreev’s text became a response to the murder of the mayor of Moscow, Sergei Aleksandrovich, committed by the Socialist-Revolutionist Kalyaev. The writer-symbolist focuses not on the crime, but on the confrontation of the individual and formal debt.

The Concert of Billy’s Band

The members of Billy’s Band continue having fun in St. Petersburg, dreaming of Paris and fighting against the spring exasperations. Exhibition highlights of the week

“Moments ” photo exhibition of frontman of music band Zveri

This exhibition opens the audience a new talent of the famous musician Roman Bilyk. It discovers 60 photos taken by the musician from 2009 to 2017 in different parts of the world. According to Roman, the photo isn’t just an imprint of the real world for him, it’s a reflection of his own troubles, discoveries, desires. The exhibition is divided into 3 blocks: the first is the works created with the Leica M, Сontax T2, Graflex Norita, Hasselblad and Exakta 66, the second – digital photos, and the third – pictures made by the mobile phone. The musician published a book “Opportunities” for this exhibition and you can buy it there.

The Exhibition “Carla Tolomeo’s Garden of Delights”

This exhibition discovers the unusual beautiful furniture by Italian designer Carla Tolomeo. Her works are decorated with palaces of emirs, residences of ministers and villas of Hollywood stars. The designer had painting classes in the studio of Giorgio de Chirico, whose metaphysical art is closely connected with surrealism. Ideas of Tolomeo made a real sensation in the world of design and provided the author with world fame. According to the artist, an inexhaustible source of inspiration for her is the memories of the parents’ home. The fantastic furniture of Carla Tolomeo looks like a props to Alice in Wonderland fairytale.

The Exhibition “How great mute men dresses”

120 years ago Nicholas II got acquainted Lumiere brothers with the cinema in Peterhof. After some time, the film-fever swept the entire capital, and the stars of the Great mute films became heroes of that era. The exhibition includes more than 50 costumes and accessories of the turn of the XIX–XX centuries from the collection of Natalia Kostrigina. It discovers the period when fashion legislators were the stars of silent cinema. The exhibition space is stylized for the episodes of old films, and the throne room looks like a cinema theater, where one of Lumiere brothers’ films is shown.

The Exhibition “St. Petersburg Art Nouveau”

The epoch of Art Nouveau in St. Petersburg art is one of the most interesting periods. This style in the Northern capital has acquired a special character. The exhibition includes the projects of buildings, bridges and interiors created by Nikolai Vasiliev, Alexander von Gohen, Nikolai Lansere and Andrew Olem, as well as decorative details (stained-glass windows, tiles, facing of furnaces), stored in the Museum of the History of St. Petersburg for the restoration process of some buildings. Also it showcases furniture, lighting devicess decorated with colored glass, beads and glass beads, writing supplies, cutlery, porcelain things, women’s suits, and accessories. A whole section shows the graphics works of Art Nouveau artists: Lev Bakst, Konstantin Somov, Alexander Golovin.

The Exhibition “Primordial Russia”

It’s a part of the all-Russian festival of nature, which unites talented photographers-naturalists. This exhibition also is timed to the 100th anniversary of the birth of Vadim Hippenreiter. It includes not only his pictures created with the help of a self-made wooden camera, but also works of other authors telling about Sakhalin, Yakutia, the Crimean peninsula, Lake Baskunchak and other amazing places of the world.

The Performance “Le Petit Prince” at the Bolshoi Puppet Theater

The value of “Le Petit Prince” is that both adults and children understand this story. Director Ruslan Kudashov can create a universal performance which reflects to the ingenious simplicity of the book. The actor, who in turn embodies all the “adult” roles in the play, finds himself suddenly in the world of animated dolls and colorful decorations. This performance looks like a funny and exciting game for children and it makes adults thinking about reality and what does it mean now. The performance lasts 1 hour 10 minutes.

The Opera “Pearl of Adalmina” at Mariinsky II

It’s a one-act opera of St. Petersburg singer and composer, professor of the vocal department of the Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory, Hrayr Khanedanyan. The soloists of the Academy of Young Opera Singers perform it. The opera is a part of season ticket, dedicated to one-act operas and musical performances for children with playing the music of the authors of the XX century and our contemporaries.

“The Power of Imagination” for children in Rosphoto

The Museum and Exhibition Center Rosphoto invites children from 6 to 14 years old to classes named “The Power of Imagination”. They will learn to look at the photo, see the whole story and understand the moments taken from life. Children will know how to see the reality through the author’s eyes. Also they will get acquainted with the masters of world photography, explore the techniques and learn to make the best photos. Workshops begin at 13:00 on the second floor of the Front Corps. The cost of one workshop is 200 rubles.

The Exhibition “Alice in Wonderland”

The exhibition explores the fairytale “Alice in Wonderland” by Lewis Carroll. It includes different art objects, first illustrations of the book, scenes from the Disney cartoon and sociable robot playing White Rabbit. Children can participate in mad tea ceremony, get into a mirror capsule and watch how Cheshire Cat reappears in the air.
